AKAU guests may choose to dredge on our property, or at a remote camp to increase 'gold haul' yield. Looking for an authentic experience similar to the big outfits? This is it.

We are open June through September. Our weekly schedule begins each Friday and ends the following Thursday.

A one-week all-inclusive AKAU Gold Prospecting Package consists of high banking, sluicing, panning, metal detecting, and dredging on historically significant claims on Anvil Creek, where gold was first discovered in 1898. We will also offer you the opportunity for world-class fishing in nearby rivers. This flag-ship package includes meals, accommodations in the lodge, local festivities, cultural and historical tours, and shuttle services to/from the Nome Airport.

Upon your arrival to Nome, we will have a sign-up sheet for additional activities that are included in the week-long package, and may include City of Nome celebrations, visit to an Alaska Native Village, nature sightseeing, beach glass tour, museum visit, souvenir shopping, and crafting.

You choose however you wish to spend each day; perhaps you'll metal detect for two days, high bank for three days, and join fellow clients on a coastal van tour, or go fishing; the choice is yours.

Our popular MineLab Metal Detecting Package will be offered August 14-20 and August 21-27, 2026. This package includes everything in the AKAU Gold Prospecting Package, plus you will receive exclusive metal detecting demonstrations and instruction from a MineLab expert.
